After serving their sentence, career opportunities for someone who is incarcerated and under the supervision of the criminal justice system may likely be quite slim. This challenge is one of the many reasons of CCAB’s Phoenix Program. Through our partnership with the City of Charlottesville and the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail (ACRJ), we developed an immersive workforce training program for nonviolent offenders. This was recently featured by Charlottesville Tomorrow in their online news publication, and we at Culinary Concepts AB are immensely grateful.
The skills that students had learned throughout the program were showcased at a dinner that celebrated the completion of our most recent cohort. As a result of the Phoenix Program’s success, we continue to work and collaborate with the correctional systems outside of the Charlottesville/Albemarle region to implement the program in more areas.
