Following his graduation from the College of William & Mary in 2007, Zach settled in Charlottesville, VA where he evolved from an independent freelancer to co-owner of the full service production company, Folk Hero Films. He was an assistant editor on the feature documentary The Harvest (2012) and then editor of the company’s next feature release If We Shout Loud Enough (2013). More recently he was the co-editor on the short documentary The Ruination of Lovell Coleman (2018) and then in 2019 he Co-Directed, Produced and Edited the short documentary The Great Northern Turtle. He is mostly self taught, and has a DIY philosophy that has seen him perform just about every film role imaginable. In 2020, Zach opened up his own business, Octillion Productions, where he has sought out more personal stories to tell that are local to Virginia. He is now a frequent contractor with VPM working as a producer, videographer and editor for news stories that broadcast on VPM News Focal Point, and through that work received two nominations for the Capital Regional Emmys in 2022.
